Happy New Year Welcome to 2024
2023 has been a busy year, sadly the ever-changing weather this year has seen some shows Cancelled while others have been absolute scorchers.
This year has seen long standing club Chairman Keith step down due to age and ill health, he will remains in the club as a member. Our Vice Chairman Craig has now stepped up and been voted into the Chairman’s roll.
Mr Southend, Roger has also chosen to step down after organising many of the clubs London to Southend Classic Vehicle Run he will be missed.
Fear not though The London to Southend will go ahead again in 2024 so watch this Space.
The events Calendar is already filling up for 2024 with a wide variety of old and new events to look forward to.
Dartford Tunnel Hits 60
The Crossing officially opened the first tunnel (west bore) on the 18th November 1963.
The second tunnel following in 1980 and the bridge opening in 1991 a year after the club was formed.
The crossings was the initially proposed in 1924, with the first tunnelling started in 1936, works were delayed due to World War 2.
As part of the 60th celebrations the club have been asked to provide a convoy of vehicles to go through the tunnel. Event Photos
Ulez Expansion and vehicle exemptions
Just being a tax exempt heritage registered vehicle doesn’t mean it is automatically Ulez exempt.
You can check your vehicle by registration here; Check your vehicle (tfl.gov.uk)
The official line; To help clear London's air, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expanded on 29 August 2023 and to cover all London boroughs. This will bring the health benefits of cleaner air to all Londoners.
The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year, except Christmas Day (25 December). Drivers of vehicles that don’t meet certain emission standards need to pay a daily charge to drive in the zone. read more here
New Events online booking
The club now has an online booking form for you to added you name to club events.
This means if your are unable to join us for club nights members can still add their vehicles to the events list. Events diary can be found here.
Club regalia person required
The club are looking for someone to take on the regalia section of the club, this runs separate from committee so doesn't require extra meetings if you are interested in this please email Cortina Dave here.
New Website 1st October 2022
So, if you're reading this you have found our new look website. There is still a lot of work to do with some new features coming soon. In the meantime, if you spot any mistakes or have any thoughts for an article or page please let us know. Also, if you're a paid club member you can advertise on our website free of charge. If you can not find pictures of your vehicles in the members gallery and would like them featured please contact us. Also If you have a story about your vehicle or photos of it's restoration that you'd be willing to share for future features please let us know.

New Club Night Location: Rayleigh Lodge
After much searching and evaluation, the Committee have decided to move club nights to the Rayleigh Lodge. Parking classics in front of the pub as a small display and using a separate room to the left of the pub. See the Events Diary for more details

Drive GREEN with the new carbon offset scheme.
The federation of British historic vehicle clubs have just launched a new carbon balancing scheme, that will allow you to offset your driving carbon footprint by planting trees. In partnership with Tree-V the scheme launched on the 15th December for further information and to sign up please go to trees.fbhvc.co.uk
