Rayleigh Trinity Fair 12th June 2022

What a lovely sunny day for us at Raleigh Trinity Fair. Seven club members attended this event. The high street soon became full with visitors very quickly, browsing stalls & watching a dance group. Around the windmill area where all the classics were parked was also very busy. We had a lot of people asking about the club and a couple of promises to come to next club night and become members. Plenty of Classics to look at including a Bedford lorry.

Rayleigh Lodge Club night 9th June  Club Night come Car show, with 18 classic vehicles in attendance, around 40 members, some new members and a couple of vehicles joining us just because they saw members pulling in. A friendly social evening was had It's a nice pub with good food and drink. Thanks to all those who attended, Hopefully we will see more of you next month.
Bowers Gifford Picnic in the Park  A relaxed afternoon for a small local event with local produce, entertainment and reasonable food and drink prices and the rain held off
Billericay Soapbox derby 3rd June

The Jubilee Weekend saw the return of the Annual Soapbox derby, with the club once again fielding a team entry, this year a stripped-down Red, white and blue speed machine.
The hill was packed with spectators, there were crowds gathered to watch on the big screen.  While others took advantage of the side shows, rides and food, as well as the display of classics from the club.

With a stripped-down team due to injuries our first run down the hill saw Keith R and Kieran push Adam off to a good start with a 30.22 second run just a fraction slower than 2019, finishing round one in second place by thousandths of a second.  Our final timed run of the day saw Keith and Kieran Joined by Lewis and Peter giving us the maximum allowed pushing team, propelling Adam in the soapbox which now had damaged suspension to a 29.45 second winning run.

Enfield Pageant May 27th-29th With members camping for the weekend, others joining for different days the club stand showed a mix of vehicles over weekend.  Members went for Toby carvey Breakfast on the Saturday morning. With hundreds of vehicles on display there was lots to see and a huge Autojumble ment there were also some bargains to be had.
Craig and Kieran were busy promoting Our London to Southend Run Throughout the weekend.
Leonard Lodge Care Home 24th May 2022 The clubs second visit to this lovely care home.  After discussions on our previous visit it was agreed to increase the number of vehicles able to attend. With this in mind the club attend this display at full capacity, giving residents and their families a chance to reminisce and enjoy our classics.
Ensignbus Vintage Visit 1st May 2022   In the lead up to the London to Southend Classic run, the club visited Ensignbus who weather permitting will be adding some of their vintage opentop fleet to the route 68 Southend tour buses on the day of the Run.
Today was a chance to have a look behind the scenes at their impressive heritage range. Most of which are ready to roll for private hires, special events and filming needs. Their annual December running day features a large number of them.
National Drive it Day 24th April 2022  For this years national 'Drive it Day' the club took a run out to the Blackwater Preservation Group, to enjoy driving some larger vehicles as well as our own. This time round there was the choice of four buses and three fire engines, ranging from the 1950's to th 1990's. The younger drivers and non drivers enjoyed taking the newer Dennis Darts for a spin due to the ease of control.
Thriplow Daffodil Weekend & Country fair 2022 With the sun shinning the stage was set for a great season starter and Thriplow didn’t disappoint. With Classics a plenty and Daffodils in bloom the Village was full of people as the event had sold out, with plenty of craft, food and entertainment there was something for everyone.

The Noak Bridge evaluation Club Night  With more than 30 members in attendance along with some new potential members the club descended on The Noak Bridge in Laindon for the first trial evening, the pub was very busy due to football being shown but the tables were cleared for 20:00 and the pub soon calmed down.

Billericay Christmas Market, 5th Decemeber 2021 Early Sunday morning our intrepid members braved the British weather to meet at the Downham arms for the short drive to Billericay for their Christmas Market (All vehicles that started made it this year).  Forming up on the high Street for the day’s events.

The day kicked off with a traditional visit to the local tavern to enjoy a hearty breakfast, before heading out into the cold damp day to meet the public and enjoy the Market.  Billericay Rotary club had local theatre groups, dance groups and of course the man in red all joining the Christmas parade along the high street between the stalls that lined the route.

Thank you to all those who braved the weather to attend the day.

Blackwater Preservation Group October 17th 2021

Club members attended the Blackwater preservation groups fund raising driving event.

Driving a selection of their busses and fire engines, it was a great experience for those that have always wanted to drive fire engines, busses and an Eastern National Atkinson 1970 recovery truck. Some visitors were also able to drive Kieran’s 1989 mini who is a member of both the BPG and the SEVCVC.  The event was enjoyed by all those who attended.

Leonard Lodge Care home 4th September 2021

The club had the pleasure of visiting Leonard Lodge after receiving an invite due to the residents reminiscing about their old cars.

The lodge laid on drinks and snacks and hung out the bunting.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of friendly conversation and reminiscing. Having looked at the space the club will be able to squeeze a few more cars in and look forward to returning in the future.

Please see Leonard Lodges Facebook page for photos of the day.
