WELCOME TO OUR CLUB WEBSITE
SEVCVC is the Club for owners and enthusiasts of any type of historic vehicles 25 Years old or older. We are a friendly, family orientated club and all are welcome to join us in our activities.
Our emphasis is on using and enjoying classic vehicles in like minded company.
The club arranges displays at local classic car shows and rallies throughout the season and organises major events of its own, such as The London to Southend Classic Vehicle Run. In addition during the winter months we organise outings to museums, restaurants and places of interest. Many of our members belong to their own marque's club whose national meetings may be some distance away. By contrast the SEVCVC events tend to be held in the local area affording more opportunities for members to participate in shows comprising of a varied and interesting range of vehicles. Our club magazine, The Bearings is sent to all members bi-monthly via e-mail. Club nights are held at The Halfway House, Southend Arterial Road (A127) Brentwood, Essex, CM13 3LL on the 1st Wednesday in the month from 8.00pm.There is no charge for admission but a raffle is held each month. Our social team organise something of interest most months; for instance guest speakers, quizzes and films. A pay bar is available. Guests and prospective members are welcome to come along, just make yourself known to any committee member.
History of our London to Southend Classic Vehicle Run
The London to Southend Run originally called The East End to Southend Run was started over 20 years ago and recreated the days when people from London's East End would head out for a day trip to the seaside. These days we start at Fairlop Waters in the London Borough of Redbridge (postcode IG6 3HN) and take a scenic route towards the seafront at Southend (appox 50 miles), passing through many small towns and villages on the way. There are often people watching and waving along the route which adds to the fun of the run and can be enjoyed by all the family. On the journey our cars do tend to get split up probably to the delight of motorists in modern cars who do not appreciate the slower speeds of our older vehicles. Upon arrival at Southend sea front the cars are directed into parking spaces for us to enjoy the sea view. This enables the viewing public to admire our cars in safety. The day is made more enjoyable by music on the sea front, our raffle and stalls. Apart from us all having a fun day from start to finish we also raise money for a local charity. We have about 120 cars on display and many of the drivers and passengers dress up in the period of their vehicle.
We do have many helpers and generous sponsors without whose help the day would not be possible.
